Neurocognitive and psychological assessment for adults, teenagers and children
Careful, structured assessment in English — for adults, adolescents and children seeking clarity about attention, cognition and psychological functioning.
From ¥40,000 · 80-minute online appointment · Written report included · English · No referral needed
Assessment is carried out by Dr Lorenzo Geirola, Clinical Neuropsychologist, or by Martina Bottazzo, Japan Certified Public Psychologist (公認心理師). You will know which of them you are seeing before you book. You do not need a referral or an existing diagnosis. Payment is taken at the time of booking. BeyondBleu is a private practice, so assessment is not covered by Japanese National Health Insurance. You can book an assessment online, or read about each clinician on meet your therapists.
Many adults arrive at assessment after years of quietly adapting — working harder than their peers, missing things they can’t explain, feeling that the way their mind works doesn’t quite fit the systems around them.
Assessment doesn’t change who you are. It clarifies how you are — and opens more effective, more compassionate ways of working with your own mind.
At BeyondBleu, our assessments combine structured clinical testing with a careful, unhurried clinical interview. You receive a clear written report explaining findings in language you can actually use — and, crucially, what to do next.
Assessment is carried out in English, by the same clinician from the first conversation through to the written report. For many people in Japan the difficulty is not finding an assessment at all, but finding one that does not have to be conducted in a second language or through an interpreter.
What We Assess
ADHD Evaluation
For children, adolescents, and adults. Many adults reach us after years of compensating — in school, at work, in relationships. Assessment provides diagnostic clarity and a foundation for practical support.
Autism Spectrum Assessment
Thoughtful, nuanced evaluation for those who have long wondered whether the way they experience the world might be explained by autism. We approach this with care, depth, and respect for the complexity of late identification
IQ and Cognitive Assessment
For children, adolescents, and adults navigating learning differences, academic challenges, or career questions requiring cognitive profile clarity.
Broader Psychological Assessment
Assessment of mood, anxiety, personality structure, and trauma-related functioning — for those seeking diagnostic clarity, professional documentation, or a deeper understanding of their psychological world.

Our Assessment Clinicians
Dr Lorenzo Geirola, Clinical Neuropsychologist, Registered Psychologist (Tuscany Register, Italy). Trained at the University of Trento and specialised in clinical neuropsychology at the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart. He carries out neurocognitive assessment — ADHD, autism spectrum, IQ and cognitive profiling, and neuropsychological functioning. His approach brings together scientific rigour and genuine human care: assessment as a tool for understanding, never a mechanism for labelling. He works in English and Italian.
Martina Bottazzo, Japan Certified Public Psychologist (公認心理師). 公認心理師 is Japan’s national psychology licence. Martina carries out psychological assessment for adults and adolescents, including mood, anxiety, trauma-related functioning and broader psychological evaluation. She is a PhD candidate at Osaka University and works in English, Italian and Japanese.
You can read both profiles in full on meet your therapists.
For International Families in Japan
For expat families navigating the Japanese school system, assessment can be particularly important — and particularly hard to access in English.
We offer assessment in English, with written reports suitable for international schools, universities, and professional settings. We understand the specific pressures faced by international families in Japan and work efficiently and clearly so that families can get the information they need and act on it.

How Assessment Works
- Initial enquiry — tell us briefly what you're hoping to understand
- We'll confirm which assessment is most appropriate and discuss format
- Assessment combines structured testing and clinical interview, conducted online or in agreed format
- You receive a clear written report with findings, recommendations, and practical next steps
- A follow-up consultation to discuss the report and answer questions
Scope, time and fee. The standard appointment is 80 minutes and starts at ¥40,000, which includes the written report and the feedback conversation. Where an assessment needs more than one appointment — a broader neuropsychological profile, for example, or a child assessment that draws on school information — we confirm the scope and the full fee with you before you book. There is no separate charge for the report.
No referral needed. You do not have to see a doctor first, and you do not need an existing diagnosis. Payment is taken at the time of booking.

Questions About Assessment
Can adults be assessed for ADHD?
Yes. Many adults come to us having managed undiagnosed ADHD for decades. Assessment at any age is valid and useful.
Are your reports accepted by schools and employers?
Our reports are written to professional standards and are suitable for submission to international schools, universities, and most professional settings. We recommend confirming the specific requirements of your institution.
Is assessment available in Japanese?
Certain assessments can be conducted or supported in Japanese. Please enquire directly and we’ll confirm what’s possible for your specific situation.
Can assessment be done online?
Assessment is normally carried out online, by secure video. Where a particular test is better administered in person, your clinician will tell you at enquiry and discuss the options with you.
How long does an assessment take?
The standard appointment is 80 minutes, and the written report follows. A broader neuropsychological or psychological assessment may need a second appointment. We confirm the scope, the time needed and the full fee with you before you book, so there are no surprises.
Who carries out the assessment?
Assessment is carried out by Dr Lorenzo Geirola, Clinical Neuropsychologist, or by Martina Bottazzo, Japan Certified Public Psychologist (公認心理師). You will know which of them you are seeing before you book.
Do I need a referral?
No. You do not need a referral from a doctor and you do not need an existing diagnosis. BeyondBleu is a private practice, so assessment is paid for directly rather than through Japanese National Health Insurance.
