Becoming a Therapist

Tumee

Ever since I was a child, I was known as “an old child.” My mom used to tease me by saying there was an old soul inside me, and even as other kids played, I found myself quietly absorbed in books, observing the adults around me and asking unexpected questions. My fascination with people—their minds, behaviors, and emotions—set me on a path I couldn’t ignore.

I discovered psychology while studying foreign relations in Germany, and I quickly realized that this was my calling. Life taught me many lessons early on; losing my parents to cancer, watching them fight every day and cherish each moment, transformed my perspective. Their resilience and the way they embraced life, even in the face of hardship, instilled in me a deep belief in the power of will, the search for meaning, and the resilience of the human spirit.

My journey as a therapist has taken me far beyond the classroom. Working in diplomatic missions, community hospitals, and private practice across Mongolia, Germany, the USA, Australia, and Japan has given me the opportunity to connect with international, intercultural, interracial, and interreligious couples. Serving a diverse group of clients—expats, locals, and immigrants—I find a piece of myself in each of them, which enriches my practice every day.

One of the aspects I cherish most about my work is experiencing those “aha” moments with my clients. When we together unravel the mysterious nature of our human condition in simple, clear language, it brings me immense joy and fulfillment. Helping people feel truly understood and listened to—and joining them on their journey through both joy and pain—gives me the energy to wake up every day and do what I love.

Becoming a therapist hasn’t been an easy path, but every challenge and every breakthrough has made me more committed to helping others heal and grow. I continue to learn and evolve, drawing on diverse fields like neuroscience, psychoanalysis, philosophy, and neuro-linguistic programming. Each day, I strive to master the art of therapy, dedicated to making a meaningful difference in the lives of those I serve.
